You can be offered up to 12 weekly counselling sessions through the Indigo Counselling Service.

A session is considered cancelled when you are unable to attend a scheduled session and you have given us more than 24 hours’ notice.

You can cancel your session by:

  • Letting your counsellor know at the end of a previous session, or
  • Contacting the team during the week of your scheduled appointment

NB: Giving less than one day’s notice will not be considered as a cancelled appointments but instead will be considered a Missed Appointment. For more information on this, please see the Missed Appointments policy.

  • You may cancel up to two sessions without losing any of your allocated sessions
  • These sessions will be rolled over, so you can still have all 12 sessions.

  • Third cancellation: You will lose that session and will be offered 11 sessions in total instead of 12
  • Fourth cancellation: You will be discharged from the counselling service

No. Being discharged from counselling does not affect any other care you are receiving within the Indigo Gender Service.

Yes, you can re-refer in the future if you are still eligible. However:

  • You will return to the bottom of the waiting list
  • You will only be offered your remaining sessions

For example:

  • If you have already used 6 sessions, you will be able to access up to 6 more sessions
